Cast steel parts are cast steel. Similar to cast iron, but better than cast iron.
All cast steel parts must be used after heat treatment. Casting defects, such as porosity, cracks, shrinkage and shrinkage, coarse grains, non-uniform structure, and residual internal stresses in as-cast cast steel parts, significantly reduce the strength, especially plasticity and toughness, of cast steel parts. Steel castings must be normalized or annealed to reduce grain size, homogenize the structure, and eliminate internal stresses. Normalized steel has higher mechanical properties and lower cost than annealed steel, so it has more applications. However, normalizing treatment has higher internal stress than annealing, so it is suitable only for casting with a carbon content of less than 0.35%. Low-carbon cast steel is excellent in plasticity, so that it does not easily crack when cooled.
After normalizing the steel casting, high-temperature tempering must also be performed to reduce internal stress. For steel castings with a carbon content of 0.35% or more and a complex structure that is prone to cracking, only annealing treatment can be performed. Do not quench steel castings. If it is not quenched, it will be easily broken.
