Process characteristics of gray cast iron profiles

Release time:2019-11-14 14:20:48

A grey cast iron profile is a general term for alloys consisting mainly of iron, carbon, and silicon. In these alloys, the carbon content exceeds the amount retained in the austenite solid solution at the eutectic temperature.
Graphite fine rounding in gray cast iron profile, high spheroidization rate, many balls, no intercrystalline carbide, easy surface treatment, glass, enamel coating on cast iron surface, copper, chromium, tungsten plating, carburizing, ammonia With surface treatment, the performance is much higher than sand castings and steel parts.
Characteristics and application range of gray cast iron profiles The tensile strength and plasticity are low, but the casting performance and shock absorption performance are good. It is mainly used to cast pressure and vibration components such as cylinders, cylinder liners and lathe beds of automobile engines.
The structure of cast iron is compact, with good pressure and air tightness, excellent mechanical performance, high production rate, low production cost, material saving and energy saving, which is unmatched by sand casting.
Cast iron profiles require higher hardness as bearings, and the cast iron parts are often quenched and tempered at low temperatures. The process is: various castings are heated to a temperature of 860-900 ° C, the original substrate is all austenitized and then cooled in oil or molten salt to achieve quenching, and then heated and tempered at 250-350 ° C, the original matrix conversion For tempered martensite and retained austenite structure, the original spheroidal graphite has the same shape. The treated castings have high hardness and certain toughness, retaining the lubricating properties of the graphite and improving the wear resistance.
Cast iron profiles have unique advantages in terms of ADI isothermal quenching substrates. In the manufacture of high-end mechanical parts, it has broad application prospects.
